Shepherd of the Valley Food Shelf Volunteer – Apple Valley
The Apple Valley Food Shelf, located in Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church (near the MN Zoo) serves as an open, welcoming place for community members to gather, work with volunteers and receive needed food support. Volunteers build trusting relationships with individuals and families giving them dignity as they access the food shelf.
Depending on the volunteer role, our volunteers: greet clients, meet with clients when they come for food shelf appointments and update client information in our database, connect clients to resources, stock or organize the Food Shelf and help clients as they shop in the Food Shelf. Training for all volunteer positions is provided. We ask volunteers to be willing to commit to a minimum of two four hour shifts per month on an ongoing basis.
We currently have no volunteer openings at this site, please check out our openings at any of our other food shelves (in Burnsville, Rosemount, Lakeville or Farmington)
Our food shelf is always in need of paper and/or plastic bags to be used for groceries. Please feel free to drop off any gently used and clean bags on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon – 6 pm to the food shelf located at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Road, Apple Valley.
