Child Care Resource and Referral
Increasing Literacy in All Early Child Care Settings
Children who spend their early years in quality child care settings are likely to have improved language skills, score higher in school-readiness tests and develop fewer behavior problems.
Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) works with parents, child care providers and community organizations to help promote the availability, affordability, and quality of child care services in Dakota County, Minnesota.
About 360 children from 90 childcare providers received help from CCR&R. CCR&R also awarded 14 Family Friendly Neighbor grants (most were around $500) to help Family Friendly Neighbor caregivers purchase equipment or attend additional training to improve the quality of care they are providing the children. All of the grant recipients also attended the trainings that we have offered in Somali and Spanish.
The entire community benefits when Dakota County families are able to access affordable, high quality child care. Such care helps parents work and provides the educational foundation children need to be ready for school.
