Konat leads the organization’s strategic initiatives including engaging community members to achieve long-term goals that will influence the future of their communities.
Experience
Konat (pronounced Co-nat) brings more than 20 years of experience and expertise in transforming and building organizations to this position. Before joining 360 Communities, Konat served as Physical Development Director for Dakota County, a Twin Cities south metro county with a population of 356,000. In this position, he was also a member of the Senior Leadership Team for Dakota County.
Prior to his work with the county, he was City Manager for the City of Burnsville for 11 years. His 21-year career with Burnsville included 5 years as Director of Parks and Recreation and 5 years as Director of Community Development.
These earlier positions provided him with a broad range of training to successfully lead communities to thrive and grow in a competitive, rapidly changing environment. He has an impressive track record of improving employee performance, fostering cross-functional collaboration and attaining cost savings.
Konat is a board member of Dakota County Regional Chamber and a past member of Burnsville rotary.
Education
A native of Grand Island, Nebraska, Konat earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and a master’s degree in parks and recreation administration from the University of Northern Colorado. He has completed post-graduate training at Harvard University and the University of St. Thomas.
