Volunteer Stories

Judy Good

For over three years, Judy has created something special at the Rosemount location. Judy noticed a need with the youth in our community needing assistance with homework help. Judy started a homework help group that met twice a week for all children and all ages. The homework help program evolved over the first summer to a program called The Book Club, a kindergarten readiness class. Judy and her team of volunteers have gotten children engaged, excited to learn, and to want to be successful in school and life.

Bill Ganz

Bill embraced the challenge of the new Burnsville Food Shelf, and took charge! He took the lead overseeing and organizing the initial stocking, and now manages food drives, trains volunteers, educates after-hours volunteers, and is a great guy besides!

Bill is so forward-thinking he makes running a food shelf look easy! His organizational and people skills, his intelligence, and just plain determination inspire us.

Ray Martin

Ray’s commitment and dedication to all the families that enter the doors is admirable. Ray encourages the youth that there are limitless possibilities for their future. If Ray isn’t meeting with families, he is entering data, talking to the children, or sweeping the Resource Center.

Tuesday night is Ray night in Rosemount. Families come and go and Ray is there to listen and talk with them. Ray is also one of those volunteers who just shows up! When Ray shows up, he quietly will fix the vacuum cleaner or sit with a family out in the park.

Patti Bouley

Patty lives in Apple Valley and has been volunteering at the Eagan Lewis House for three years. Patty volunteers because she has had many strong mentors in her own life and wants to pass this type of support on to others.  Patty volunteers twice a week on Mondays and Saturdays. She completed the 40-hour Sexual Assault Services training and co-facilitates the new adolescent support group for young woman ages 14-17.
